Vaujany makes the perfect base for a winter holiday. It has excellent facilities whilst retaining the charm of a family friendly village set in an unspoilt valley with stunning views.
The skiing is superb, with a fast cable car link directly into the upper slopes of the Alpe d'Huez ski area (domaine des Grandes Rousses), which offers 248km of piste ranging from 1250-3330m and is served by 84 lifts.
All lower runs are well equipped with snow cannons and are kept in good condition even when the weather is uncooperative.
No matter what your standard of skiing or boarding you will have plenty to explore, from the famous blacks such as the Tunnel and the Sarenne to the wide open blue and green runs above Vaujany and in the Alp d'Huez basin, as well as several jump parks.
It is possible to do a continuous descent of 2200m from the top of the Pic Blanc at 3300m to the bottom of La Fare, below Vaujany.

There are 50km of cross country piste and several kilometres of prepared pedestrian paths up on the mountain which are accessible by cable car. If not skiing you may also enjoy the guided snow shoe walks or the open air ice rink in the village and the frozen waterfalls offer excellent ice climbing.
If lunch is an important part of your holiday there are some very good mountain restaurants and several can also be reached easily on foot so that skiers and non-skiers can meet.
