Situated on south facing slopes, at the end of a quiet and picturesque valley, Vaujany is the ideal location for a summer holiday.
The facilities are excellent, but development has been carefully controlled so that the charm and friendliness of the traditional farming community have been retained. After a day walking through high alpine pastures full of wild flowers you may well stop for a chat, buy some local honey or cheese and be invited to watch the goats being milked by hand.
In July and August the cable cars give easy access to the extensive range of mountain biking trails and spectacular high altitude walking and climbing. You can even fish in the mountain lakes.
At the top of the village, in a beautiful setting, near to the hang gliding and archery field, there are 5 free tennis courts and a children's playground based around a friendly cafe and terrace.
The whole area is also well known for its challenging cycling, including the famous 21 bend hill climb to Alpe d'Huez when the Tour de France passes through the valley.

There is also a programme of guided walks and mountain biking for everyone and weekly passes, which also include the swimming pool, can be bought at a very attractive price.
At the bottom of the valley is a large reservoir with a water sports centre where you can hire windsurfs and boats and within a half hour drive you can find quad biking, horse riding, white water rafting, a via ferrata and an aerial rope park.
